Over time, players try to infuriate big stars all in the name of getting them sent off out of the game. It’s a strategy they have been putting in place to confuse the Referees. At times, it works for them and they gain the momentum when these players are being sent off.
Last night, this Irish player didn’t get what he had desired. Cristiano Ronaldo set up the ball to play a penalty and then this Irish player just walked across and kicked the ball away. Deliberately, Ronaldo slapped him on his face. It’s an act of indiscipline to infuse Ronaldo but he could have just ignored the act. Regardless of that, we are not ignorant of the fact that Players are also human. We might be harboring an outrage before which could trigger our action in few seconds.
Psychological, the Irish player activated the in-depth anger in Ronaldo which eventually led to a slap. Talk about a simple slap, the Irish player exaggerated the whole situation in a different manner. Unluckily for him, the referee didn’t even pay single attention to it. It’s not a poor officiating from him, he could discern the remote effect that led to the development.
Who got the last laugh from the penalty? Ireland was victorious there, Ronaldo missed the penalty. He has been psychologically destabilized at that point. But the talismanic footballer was not done as he put some icing on the cake by scoring two late heading goals to give his country a fine start in the World Cup Qualifiers.
Many people have been saying CR7 should have been sent off there. Well, on the contrary, I strongly contend that Cristiano Ronaldo’s action is justified based on personal human assessment. Before being anything we are in life, we are firstly human and that’s an unchangeable rule. Even Lionel Messi has his fierce moments on the pitch. It’s a natural phenomenon that cannot be controlled by anyone.
