The never-ending debate. In a gathering of football lovers, this question always arises “Who is the GOAT” not “Who is your GOAT”. GOAT is an acronym for “Greatest Player of All Time”.
Jamie Carragher and Gary Neville got involved in the debate during the Monday Night Football on Sky sports news.
Former Liverpool defender and England international, Jamie Carragher was on Leo Messi’s side as he was heard calling him the “Messiah” while Gary Neville took Ronaldo’s side. Neville was of the opinion that Ronaldo is the greatest goal poacher and he is “complete” that is, he could score with any part of his body. He could score with the head, right and left foot and could also score free kicks and penalties. He also pointed out Cristiano’s international career and said he would always choose the Portuguese star to win a football match for him coming from the bench.
Carragher on the other hand was of the opinion Ronaldo does things other players could do like heading and shooting the ball but isn’t always involved in the buildups to goals hence isn’t a complete player. He called Messi ‘the messiah’ and said Messi could do things we’ve never seen in football and has scored more goals coming off the bench than Cristiano hence is more likely to win a match off the bench.
These are their overall stats for both club and country with assists missing;
