Tinubu, Shettima celebrate Democracy Day with Nigerian Armed Forces

Nigeria’s President, Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima were on Monday joined at the Presidential Villa Abuja Four-court by many dignitaries to celebrate this year’s Democracy Day.

June 12 is a day set aside by the federal government to mark the June 12 presidential election assumed to have been won by late Chief MKO Abiola but annulled by the military administration led by Gen. Ibrahim Babangida.

Among the dignitaries include members of the Nigerian Armed Forces, Police and other eminent citizens.

On arrival at the event, the President who is also the Commander -in Chief of the Armed Forces, was received by the Commander Guards Brigade Brig Gen Aminu Umar and immediately proceeded to inspect the Special Guard mounted in his honour.

The event also featured special performances by the mass band, silent drill platoon and Cultural display by Guards Brigade Cultural troupe.

Key government functionaries, including Service Chiefs, the Inspector General of Police, Chief of Staff to the President and Secretary to the Government of the Federation, among others, attended the event.
