Five top commanders and 30 fighters of the Islamic States of West African Province (ISWAP) have been arrested in Abuja and detained by authorities.
Their arrest followed security alert raised this week by the US States Department which said there plans to bomb many public places in Abuja and other parts of NIgeria.
The US Department warned the country’s citizens to leave Nigeria unless they are on emergency services.
Consequently, a joint operation launched by the Department of State Services, the National Intelligence Agency, the police and other security agencies led to the dismantling of a terror cell and arrest of the terrorists.
The suspects were apprehended at their hideouts in different locations in Abuja, Mararaba and other satellite towns in the Federal Capital Territory.
This week, the popular Jabi Lake Mall was shut down on Thursday as a result of security threat. FCT Administration also demolished some shanties in some satellite town around the capital city as part of security measures.
