Subsidy Palliative: Katsina govt to purchase 40 buses to ease students transportation

Towards cushioning the hardship being suffered by its residents due to subsidy removal, the Governor Umaru Dikko Radda led Katsina State Executive Council has approved the sum of N600 million naira for the purchase of 40 additional buses for the State Transport Authority, KTSTA.

A statement issued by Mohammed Ibrahim Kaula, Chief Press Secretary to the Governor and made available to Nationwide Reports Thursday has it that the measure is aimed at reducing the pain residents of the State are experiencing now, in the wake of the subsidy removal and hike in the pump price of petrol, Ibrahim Kaula Mohammed, the Chief Press Secretary, CPS, to Governor Dikko Umaru Radda, said.

Katsina State Commissioner of Works, Housing and Transport, Dr. Sani Magaji Ingawa, at the end of a State Executive Council meeting presided over by Governor Radda, informed newsmen of the cash approval for the buses’ procurement.

He said the busses would be used for inter and intra city services by KTSTA.

Dr. Ingawa remarked that some of the buses would be assigned to convey pupils of Katsina primary and secondary schools, as well as students of tertiary institutions.

He however, declared that passengers to patronize the buses would pay less as transport fare from and to their various destinations, within and outside the State capital.
