The residents made the appeal during the second day of the protest against the ongoing demolition of houses in the city.
DAILY POST reports that hundreds of residents whose houses were either demolished or about to be demolished have been protesting at the Oyo State Government Secretariat at Agodi since Wednesday.
Our correspondent learnt that many houses have been demolished as a result of the ongoing construction of the Ibadan Circular Road.
DAILY POST gathered that scores of residents were stranded when the government began the demolition of the houses early this year.
DAILY POST reports that the residents on Thursday stormed the secretariat to appeal to the governor to stop the demolition.
The residents who carried placards and banners with various inscriptions noted that they used their hard-earned money to build the houses.
A resident who identified himself as Kolawole, said that many people have been in panic mood since the demolition started.
He added that many families have been affected as a result of the ongoing demolition.
“We want the governor to stop the demolition of our houses. Many houses on the corridor have been demolished and they said that they want to demolish more.
“We used our hard-earned money to purchase and build the houses. They said that they want to construct Circular Road. They have already taken 150 meters, and many houses have been demolished.
“Now, they said that they want to add another 500 meters. Where do they want us to go?
“There is a family, the house of the father was demolished, that of the mother was also demolished and that of the child was also demolished. They had to return to their father’s house,” she said.
