Police commence investigation into Abuja train/car accident

The FCT Police Command has reacted to reports of a fatal train/car accident that happened earlier today at the Chikakore axis in the Kubwa Area of the FCT.

An unidentified female driver reportedly lost her life after a train rammed into her, while trying to cross a rail track in her car.

Eyewitnesses report that the said driver was trying to cross the tracks with her car but she wasn’t fast enough, as the train rammed into her vehicle killing her instantly.

A video shared online by an eyewitness partly captures a mangled Toyota car that was destroyed.

Spokesperson of the FCT Police Command, ASP Josephine Adeh, in a statement said the command has begun investigation into the rail/motor accident in order to prevent a repeat of unfortunate incident.

She said upon receipt of the information, “Crime Scene Investigators attached to the Byazin Divisional Police Headquarters drifted swiftly to the scene, took charge of the situation, where the victim was confirmed dead by medical practitioner on ground.

“Investigation has commenced by the Rail way division having jurisdiction over the track. Findings and safety tips already existing will be reiterated to ensure a non repeat of incident shortly.”
