Three nurses working with a private hospital in Asaba, Delta state, have been arrested by the Police over missing organs of a newborn baby.

According to sources, the baby was taken to the hospital last week Sunday by the parents for treatment but the hospital later confirmed the child dead.

However, the family went back to the hospital the next day with a report the dead child’s eyes, nose, and ear had been removed.

On its part, the hospital said the child was born at another medical facility but was referred to them Sunday evening for treatment, adding that the child was confirmed dead on arrival and handed back to the parents after efforts were made to bring the child back to life.

The hospital, therefore, expressed disbelief that the parents returned the next day with the police to arrest the nurses’ allegation that they removed the baby’s eyes, nose, and ears.

They came with the police, who arrested some nurses at the hospital.”

He said, “It is true, but I have not got the details of the incident. We got information that the child was delivered to another hospital, but was referred to the hospital where he died. The corpse has been deposited in a mortuary, so an investigation is ongoing.”
