Senator Joshua Dariye, a former governor of Plateau State, has expressed his gratitude to President Muhammadu Buhari for granting him pardon from prison.
Dariye was convicted for stealing money belonging to Plateau state people while in office as governor. After staying in prison for some years, President Buhari in August granted pardon to him and Jolly Nyame of Taraba state.
Speaking in Jos on Wednesday, Dariye said he would have been languishing somewhere in the country but that President Buhari out of his magnanimity, granted him and others pardon to return to their families.
Dariye who was received from the Yakubu Gowon Airport, Heipang to the palace of the Gbong Gwom Jos, by the Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN and other, charged citizens of the state to continue to work to ensure a better Plateau State.
He said: “We are here to rejoice, this is the day God has made, let me thank President Muhammadu Buhari, he was so magnanimous and gracious in granting us this pardon, myself and Nyame are co-beneficiaries of this gesture. That is why I am here to say thank you. If not for your prayers, collective solidarity, and determination, I will not have been here.
“Some people wanted to block the wheel of progress, I would have been languishing somewhere in Gwagwalada but God has disappointed them so that His name will be glorified. Plateau will continue to go forward and never backward again. Today is not a day of speech but I hope you have your PVC?” he asked.
