Northern Christian women coalition hails Ortom on security outfit

The Northern Christian Women Coalition has hailed Benue state government for the establishment of the State Community Volunteer Guards, BSCVG, to combat insecurity.

National President of the coalition, Princess Leah Olusiyi, gave the commendation on Monday, when she led her group to visit Governor Samuel Ortom at Government House, in Makurdi.

She noted with pleasure that Governor Ortom has been proactive in initiating solutions to security problems bedeviling the country, stressing that the volunteer guards established was a step in the right direction.

Princess Olusiyi, who noted that the governor has been a voice for the voiceless, stressed that he has remained fearless and courageous in speaking against injustice.

Responding, Governor Ortom said no matter the afflictions and persecutions, he would continue to stand with his people and protect their interest.

He reiterated his stand to follow every lawful measure to ensure that the security of Benue people is guaranteed adding that he has resolve to obtain license for the state guards to bear approved firearms to complement conventional security agencies in providing security for the state.

He appreciated the women for the honour and urged them to continue to promote the noble cause of Christianity which is the vision of the group.
