Residents of Kom Kom, a densely populated area in Oyigbo Local Government Area of Rivers State, have been thrown into mourning following the tragic death of a middle-aged man, identified as Baby Face and his girlfriend both of whose bodies were consumed in a fire set by Baby Face.
The story has it that the bodies of the man and his yet-to-be-identified lover were recovered after the fire died out.
It was gathered that Baby Face invited the woman to his house at the weekend and later interrogated her over an alleged affair she had with another man, which led to an argument between the lovers. In the process, Baby Face was said to have strangled the woman.
After killing the girl, Baby Face was said to have set his apartment ablaze as a way to cover his track, but was caught up in the inferno. He was burnt to death with the girl’s corpse inside the house.
But the Police spokesperson in the state, Grace Iringe-Koko, a Superintendent of Police, the incident was a fire outbreak.
He told reporters that- “The girl died and the man was taken to a hospital where he was receiving treatment, but later died.
“We have launched an investigation into the incident to find out what really happened. We will make our findings public,” she added
