Lagos, May 18, 2023. Lotus Bank presented has donated a JAC Sunray 18 Bus to Yaba College of Technology (YABATECH) in fulfilment of a promise made to the institution during its 34th convocation lecture.
Mr Joe Ejiofor, Deputy Registrar, YABATECH, made this known in a statement made this known on Thursday in Lagos.
Ejiofor disclosed that computers and IT accessories were also donated to the Department of Banking and Finance.
According to him, cash gifts of N500,000 and N350,000 were also presented to Paul Adisa and Aishat Adanlawo, best male and female graduating students at the Convocation held in November 2022.
He said that Mr Isiaka Lawal, Executive Director, Lotus Bank, disclosed during the presentation held at YABATECH Council Chambers that the donation was a fulfillment of an earlier promise.
He quoted Lawal as saying that the promise was made by the Managing Director of the bank, Mrs. Kafilat Araoye, at the convocation lecture where she was the guest lecturer.
Lawal, according to the statement, explained that Lotus Bank is a non interest bank deeply rooted in ethical banking and committed to ethical investment and ethical prosperity.
“The gesture was born out of the vision to support the growth and development of tertiary institutions in Nigeria and YABATECH was chosen because of its strategic position.
“The institution is also known to be impacting technological and skilled knowledge on young Nigerians,” Lawal is quoted as saying.
According to the statement, Uduak Inyang-Udoh, Acting Rector of YABATECH, lauded the gesture to the college, describing it as unique and something worthy of emulation.
Iyang-Udo said that the college considered itself lucky to be in partnership with Lotus Bank, a partnership he described as mutually beneficial to both organisations.
Adisa, one of the recipients of the cash donation, according to the statement, expressed his sincere appreciation to the bank.
He said that the greatest reward one could receive was the satisfaction of a job well done.
“I am inspired to continue learning, growing and hope to make a positive impact in my chosen field.
“The money given to me will be used for a valuable and productive venture,” the statement quoted Adisa aa saying.
It said that the presentation was witnessed by principal officers, Deans of Schools, Dean of Student Affairs, representatives of the students union, and parents of recipients.
