Land dispute: MINDA traditional rulers seek Ortom’s intervention

Traditional rulers from Masev, Ihyarev and Nongov intermediate area have appealed to Governor Samuel Ortom to intervene in the lingering boundary and land disputes between the four local governments and their neighboring communities in the state.

The local governments include Guma, Gwer East, Gwer West and Makurdi local government areas, which make up MINDA.

Speaking during a solidarity visit on the Governor at the Government House, in Makurdi, the Tor Lobi, His Royal Highness, Chief Moses Anagende, emphasised the need for the governor to also look into the encroachment on Ugondo land by the Nigerian Air Force authorities in Makurdi.

While commending the Governor for siting development projects in the area, Chief Anagende urged the Governor to endeavour to complete all ongoing road projects within the axis before the expiration of his administration.

The traditional rulers said they were proud of what Governor Ortom has been doing to address the challenges facing the state in all sectors, particularly, his unrelenting passion to tackle security and ensure rural development.

The Ter Gwer, His Royal Highness, Chief Dominic Akpe noted that Governor Ortom has prioritized the welfare of traditional rulers and urged him to continue to do his best for the state until he leaves office.

Responding, Governor Samuel Ortom, who stated that their visit has rekindled confidence in him to remain ever committed to serving the people solicited for their continuously prayers and support.

He expressed displeasure over the lingering land and boundary disputes and promised to intervene again in the matter for a lasting solution.

The Governor further directed his Chief of Staff to provide motorcycles to all district heads in the state to enhance movement for local errands within their respective domain.
