Insurrection: PDP to announce decision today

The main opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) will today take a definite stand on the raging crisis that have afflicted the party leading to the withdrawal of some of its leaders from the 2023 campaign body.

It would be recalled that Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike, some other governor’s and others have this week declared their withdrawal from campaign activities for the party’s presidential candidate, Atiku Abubabar, pending when Dr. Iyorchia Ayu, the PDP national chairman would resign his position.

According to sources, the leadership of the party had been meeting since the development, adding that there was no breathing space all through Wednesday.

One of the sources told NationWide that several decision have been reached by the party leadership and that those positions would be made public Thursday.

“The party leadership has been meeting. It has been a marathon. The NEC has met, The BoT has met. There was also a harmonisation meeting comprising NEC members, BoT members with some elders of the party in attendance. Later today, Thursday, the decisions would be made public,” the source said.

Apart from Wike, other leaders of the PDP that declared their withdrawal from the party’s presidential campaign body include Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, that of Abia state, Okezie Ikpeazu, Enugu- Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, ex-Information Minister, Prof. Jerry Gana, and others.
