Insecurity: Police carry out show of force in Abuja communities

As part of efforts to build confidence among residents of the Federal Capital Territory, the FCT Commissioner of Police CP. Sadiq Abubakar, on Tuesday led an assessment patrol to Gomba village and other communities in the Kuje Area Council of the FCT.
Abubakar, while addressing the team comprising of the Police, DSS and vigilantes, and the locals, said the exercise was targeted at warding off criminal elements, confidence building, and improving the synergy between the police, sister security agencies, and the communities for an onward fight against violent crimes.
The CP while at the palaces of the traditional rulers listened to the various complaints of the residents and promised the creation of more outposts and the absorption of interested youths into the Community Policing programs in the Area.
He said this will augment intelligence gathering, maximize other benefits of community policing and establish a generally improved visibility policing specially aimed at ensuring that farming activities are safer.
The Commissioner also assured residents of improved security architecture, tailored fit to the various topographical and social mapping of the Territory.
He therefore asked members of the public to go about their lawful duties without fear or molestation from any quarters, while urging them to maintain vigilance and report suspicious activities to the police via its emergency as well as its Complaint Bureau lines.
