As part of efforts to protect passengers travelling by trains on the Kaduna-Abuja railway, the Nigerian Air Force has commenced the deployment of military aircraft to escort the trains along the route.
A Nigerian train on that route recently came under attack by bandits, leading to the suspension operations for some days.
The deployment was announced at a press briefing on Thursday, November 11, by the acting director, Defence Media Operations, Brigadier-General Bernard Onyeuko.
He said the movement of trains on the Abuja-Kaduna railway would be monitored And assured all travelers along the route of their safety, adding that the monitoring operation has commenced.
“The important thing is the Nigerian Air Force is present at the rail tracks. Suffice to say, the operation has started. Even if you travel by road, you will see our helicopters along that route,’’ he stated.
