INEC suspends Hudu Ari, Adamawa REC for announcing fake governorship election result in favour of Binani

The management of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has suspended the Adamawa state Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC), Barrister Hudu Yunusa-Ari,

Nationwide Reports is in possession of a letter dated Monday, April 17, 2923 and signed by the Secretary of the Commission, Rose Oriaran-Anthony.

The letter, with reference no: INEC/SEC/442/V.II which was addressed to the embattled REC, directed Hudu Yunusa-Ari, Ari, to stay away from the INEC office in Adamawa state with immediate, effect until further notice.

The letter also stated that the Administrative Secretary in Adamawa state has been directed to take full charge of INEC in the state, also with immediate effect.

It would be recalled that Barrister Hudu Ari has on Sunday, even while collation of the Adamawa State governorship re-run election was still ongoing, announced Aisha Binani of the APC winner.

But in a swift reaction, Barrister Festus Okoye, INEC’s National Commissioner and Chairman Information and Voter Education Committee, issued a statement on behalf of the management of the Commission, saying the REC acted beyond his powers for announcing the result, an action which was supposed to be carried out by the Returning Officer when the collation would have been concluded.

INEC therefore declared the result announced by the REC as null and void and also postponed the collation of the result.
