FCTA To Subsidize Stable Food Commodities

Following the declaration of the State of Emergency on Food Security by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, authorities of the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA), have initiated strategies to key into the programme of subsidizing basic and stable food commodities in the Territory.

This decision was taken in an emergency meeting of the management of the FCT Administration, chaired by the FCT Permanent Secretary, Mr. Olusade Adesola, at the Minister’s Conference Room, Friday, at Area 11, Garki,Abuja .

A statement from the Director,Information and Communication,FCT, Muhammad Hazat Sule, and made available to Abuja Digest stated that the Permanent Secretary said that the proactive decision by the FCTA is in consonance with the Presidential declaration.

The statement further stated that the FCT Administration has immediately keyed into the laudable programme to bring succour to the ordinary residents of the Federal Capital Territory.

Adesola disclosed that the Federal Government has made provision for 150,000 metric tons of maize and 4,496,533 bags of fertilizer for distribution to all states of the federation and the FCT to help address the concerns around food insecurity in the country.

According to him, the FCT Administration has already set up a Committee and would soon flag-off-the scheme to jump-start the Federal Government’s efforts in reducing hardship for the populace.

His words: “The Administration is working towards making remarkable impact on the lives of the ordinary residents of the Federal Capital Territory, in line with the vision of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.”
