Dr. Peter Inyali, a prominent member of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in power in Cross River State, has issued a challenge to Mr. Agba Jalingo, the state chairman of the African Action Party (AAC), to field candidates in the next local government elections.

The bridge which is located in Mayo-Kam village of Bali local government council of the state, was reportedly cut off by erosion following a massive rainfall.
The development cut off vital roads linking several communities including Gembu in Sardauna council, Baisa in Kurmi council and Gashaka local government council.

The disruption, as noticed by DAILY POST, poses significant challenges for travelers and transporters who rely solely on the route for access to various parts of the state.
While local authorities and residents are calling on the state government to urgently intervene and restore the bridge to ensure safe and efficient travel in the affected areas, commuters have been urged to seek alternative routes until the situation is resolved.
The disaster is coming a day after DAILY POST reported a similar scenario in Namnai, were the major bridge linking the state capital with the nearby Benue State and other parts of southern Nigeria was washed away by flood.

Some persons from the surrounding communities who spoke with our reporter, passionately called on the state government to as a matter of urgency address the problem.
According to them, the development will not only hinder movement, it will also impact negatively on farming activities.
“Transporting our farm products to the nearby markets will no doubt also be affected if the government failed to fixed it in time,” one of the local farmers said.
