We present the educational background of Femi Fani-Kayode, FFK who has just recently defected to the opposition party.
Reverend Emmanuel Adedapo Kayode, an Anglican Priest, was his great grandfather who was one of the first Nigerians to be educated in England and was awarded a Master of Arts from the University of Durham.
His grandfather, Victor Adedapo Kayode, got his law degree at Cambridge University and became a lawyer and a judge. His dad, Victor Babaremilekun Adetokunboh Fani-Kayode, took after his own father by studying law also at the same Cambridge University, and at the same time, he ventured into politics around the 1950-1960s.
Victor Babaremilekun headed the National Council and the Cameroons Opposition in the Western House of Assembly for three years. He was the Minister of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs and Deputy Premier of the Western Region of Nigeria from 1963 to 1966. He pioneered the motion for Nigeria to have her independence in 1958 in the Nigerian Parliament.
Femi Fani-Kayode was born on October 16th, 1960 in Lagos State.
At the age of 8, he started his education at Brighton College, Brighton, United Kingdom, UK. After that, he attended Holmewood House School in Tunbridge Wells, Kent, South-East England. He proceeded to Harrow School in Harrow, on the Hill UK and then later to Kelly College, in Tavistock UK where he finally completed his public school education. Femi was admitted in 1980 at the University of London, School of Oriental and African Studies where he graduated with a law degree in 1983.
Chief Femi Fani-Kayode went back to Cambridge University where his grandfather, father and elder brother graduated from where they all read law.
Barrister Femi was called to bar in 1985 after attending the Nigerian Law School.
He graduated with a diploma in theology from Christian Action Faith Bible Seminary in Accra, Ghana in 1995.
Femi Fani-Kayode is a legal practitioner, a Nigerian politician, an evangelical Christian, an essayist, a poet. He has held several political positions and also with several appointments in Nigeria.
