The camp of Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike in the internal wrangling afflicting the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has suffered heavy setback following the withdrawal of former Gombe state governor, Ibrahim Hassan Dankwambo.

Dankwambo’s dumping of Wike’s Integrity Group was made obvious on Monday when he said that that the entire PDP members were behind the party’s presidential candidate, Atiku’ Abubabar.

He stated this during the presidential campaign rally by Atiku and the PDP in Gombe State where he also donated 20 buses to the Atiku campaigns.

He said: “The whole party has welcomed Atiku, which shows they are with him.”

Atiku while speaking during the campaign said Gombe is home for him and promised to execute major projects in the state if he gets their support and emerges as the next President of Nigeria in 2023.

“The party is ready to bring back the booming economy, the peace, security and prosperity the country was known for in the past,” he said.

He added that, “As far as I’m concerned Gombe is homecoming, it is my own home. Let me reiterate the promises we have made if by the grace of God, by your support, we promise that we will empower Gombe. Gombe naturally is a business centre in the North-East, we promise to empower your businessmen to expand their businesses so that they can create more jobs for our young men and women.

“We also promise that the Dadinkowa dam which was built by the PDP government to provide electricity and irrigation is reactivated for both to be made available in the North-East. We also promise that if you support us to elect a PDP government we will make sure all the roads linking Gombe with Adamawa, Borno, Yobe, Bauchi are reconstructed for the purposes of enhancing trade and commerce.”
