Bello was arrested in Ilorin after police traced Hafsoh’s last known communication to him following her disappearance last Monday.
The private school teacher was last seen leaving a naming ceremony to visit the cleric, but when she failed to return home, her family reported her missing.
The suspect, in an interrogation video obtained by newsmen, alleged that he had gone out to buy food for Hafsoh when she suddenly began gasping for breath. Upon his return, he claimed, he found her lifeless.
“I was in shock when she died, so I couldn’t cry out for help. I dismembered her body and disposed of it because I couldn’t think of a better way,” Bello said.
However, Hafsoh’s family dismissed his claims, insisting that she had no history of asthma.
A family associate, Lawyer Odedele, questioned the suspect’s account, stating that the victim had actively participated in cooking at the event before heading to meet him.
Meanwhile, the Kwara State Police spokesperson, Toun Ejire-Adeyemi, said further details would be provided upon the conclusion of the investigation.
