Some heavily armed Police officers and men have laid siege on the Maitama Abuja home of the Central Bank Governor, Godwin Emefiele.

NationWide learnt Tuesday night that the strange Policemen who were obviously not part of Emefiele’s regular security team were more than 10 in number and were spotted around the building at about 8:40pm, at his No. 8 Colorado Street, Maitama.

The siege was said to be in furtherance to Emefiele’s expected appearance at the Federal High Court in Abuja today, Wednesday, over a $53 million judgment debt arising from the Paris Club refund.

Emefiele has been in the eye of the storm over what analysts say was triggered by his patriotic move to reposition the Naira, discourage kidnap and banditry as well as prevent politicians from making use of cash to buy votes during the coming general election.

Allegations are therefore rife that his ordeal is being sponsored by some powerful politicians who are bent on replacing him in order to have a stooge that would reverse his well-thought out policies so that it would be back to business as usual
