The House of Representatives has rescinded its decision on three of the Gender clauses it voted against during the consideration of 68 recommendations on the Constitutional Ammendment.

The Speaker, Mr Femi Gbajabiamila, announced the decision at plenary after the house held a short executive session.

According to the speaker, the decision was borne out of the quest for the good of the nation, particularly at the 2022 International Women’s day celebration.

Mr Gbajabiamila, who said the bills will come up again for voting in the next four weeks added that if there is a difference in the decision taken by it and the Senate, there will be Harmonization on the bills.

He however stressed that though Harmonization may not be the practice during Constitutional Ammendment, the constitution under section 5 allows the Parliament to regulate itself.

Speaking on the rescinded bill, the chairman, house committee on rules and business, Abubakar Fulata, listed them to include the Indigeniship bill, Citizenship bill and the 35 percent political party leadership position for Women.
