Kylian Mbappe, a striker for Real Madrid, has stated that he would like to speak with Luka Modric, a teammate, to get his opinion on how to win the Ballon d’Or.
The Ballon d’Or is one major individual honour that has so far eluded Mbappe, who is one of the most talented footballers in recent years.
Asked about the award prize, the former Paris Saint-Germain star gave a humorous response, saying he would seek advice from Croatian legend Modric.
Modric won the award in 2018, becoming the first player to break the decade-long dominance of Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo.
Speaking to the press ahead of France’s 2-0 defeat to Modric-led Croatia in the first leg of their Nations League quarterfinal on Thursday, Mbappe was asked about the Ballon d’Or.
He said, “Ballon d’Or? I’m going to ask Luka Modrić how to win it (laughs).”
Last year, Mbappe’s other teammate, Vinicius Jr., was in the frontline of players to win the award but later lost out to Manchester City’s Rodri.
