Attack on Gwarinpa Estate not bandits but armed robbery…Police

The Public Relations Officer of the Federal Capital Territory, Police Command, Josephine Adeh, has refuted claims that attack on Gwarinpa Estate on Monday was perpetrated by bandits.

Adeh said the police had already been mobilised to the scene to ascertain how the incident happened.

She promised that the public would be duly notified after details of the incident had been ascertained.

However, residents say
suspected bandits on Monday morning attacked Gwarinpa Estate and operated for about four hours from 1.00am till 4.00am.

Also, that an unspecified number of residents were abducted.

A source said no security agents responded to distress calls throughout the four hour operations by the gunmen.

Another resident who identified himself as Mohammed, disclosed that the gunmen gained access to Genuine Estate after Efab Queens on 6th Avenue, Gwarinpa, but could not give a detailed account of how many people were abducted.

According to him, the bandits were armed with bows, arrows, and machetes and were in large numbers.
