Labour Party Presidential candidate Peter Obi has promised to dialogue with the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Oodua Nation and other agitators if he is elected president in this year’s general election.

Obi was reacting to a question on what he would do with IPOB in view of the violence the group is causing in the country.

He said that addressing the root cause of the agitations would be a way to go, as well as engagement of the groups. He said unemployment, unfair distribution of commonwealth and nepotism are the causes of agitations and that dealing with the causations is the easiest way to go.

Obi said Nigeria has 60 percent of its youths unemployed, adding that the United Kingdom would be on flames if only 15 percent of its citizens are unemployed.

On the question of how he would handle the National Assembly, in view of the fact that his party barely has members in the two chambers of the legislature.

He said good governance, non appliance of nepotism and other positive policies would motivate lawmakers to work with him, no matter the party they come from.

Obi said lawmakers are aware that most people in their constituencies are unemployed, hungry and angry and would naturally key into policies and programmes that benefit their people.

He recalled that he governed Anambra with all state assembly members from other parties.

On issue of borrowing, Obi said there was nothing wrong with borrowing if the funds would be invested to prosper the nation and the people, adding that what is not acceptable was where leaders borrow to consumption. He said his administration would fight corruption.
