ASATU Prime Minister Metchie condoles Annie Okonkwo’s family, congratulates Echeng Echeng on promotion as Police AIG

The Prime Minister of Anambra State Association of Town Unions (ASATU), Ambassador John Chukwudi Metchie, has commiserated with the Okonkwo family of Ojoto in Anambra State, on the death of Senator Clement Annie Okonkwo which occurred on Wednesday, June 7, 2023.

In three separate letters dated Saturday, June 17, 2023 and addressed to Chief Tony Okonkwo, Lady Chinyere Okonkwo and Uchenna-Harris Okonkwo, brother, wife and first son, respectively to the deceased, Metchie who is also the President General of Umueri community, extolled the virtues of the late administrator, businessman and politician, saying he used his wealth to uplift the poor, widows and orphans while employing thousands of Nigerians through his numerous companies.

He therefore prayed God to grant the soul of the departed former lawmaker a peaceful rest and fortitude for the family to bear the irreparable loss.

In another letter on Saturday, Chief Metchie, also the the African Director, International Association of World Peace Advocates (IAWPA), congratulated former Anambra State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Echeng Eworo Echeng on his promotion to the rank of Assistant Inspector General (AIG).

He described Echeng’s promotion as a reward for his dedication and commitment to duty as well as a justification on the part of those who have always believed in him as one of the best officers of the Nigeria Police Force.

Metchie said- “On a personal note, I am one of those who believe that a combination of your rich experience, gallantry, readiness to listen and work with community leaders and other stakeholders, among other qualities, contributed immensely to the successes recorded in the task of ridding Anambra State of criminals and criminalities.

“I therefore pray that God Almighty will continue to guide, protect and inspire you to succeed in this call to higher service to the fatherland, Nigeria
