A chieftain of the All Progressives Party, APC, in Benue state, Mr Musa Alechenu, has dumped his party for Labour Party, with a call on Benue people to vote the party’s presidential candidate, Mr Peter Obi and its governorship candidate, Herman Hembe.
While in the APC, Alechenu had contested election to represent his Ohimini State Constituency at the Benue State House of Assembly in the recently conducted primaries.
Speaking to journalists in Makurdi, Alechenu said, “I’m leaving the party because the leadership of the APC in Benue state has mortgage the party to opposition Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.
“You can see that during primary elections, materials were hijacked and results were written, materials were not taken to various constituencies.
“In my place, we waited all through and at the end no candidate in my local government because election could not hold. My INEC Election Officer can attest to the validity of my claim.”
Musa who also expressed some reservations concerning the party’s all Muslims ticket said, “The Muslim/Muslim tickets didn’t go down well with my constituents and they all said that we should go to the party that have the interest and unity of Nigeria and our people at heart.”
He stated that he will still support his leader, Lady Blessing Onuh, who is the house of Representative candidate of Otukpo/Ohimini saying “I will support her and my supporters will also support her. In 2023, we are going to vote individuals and not party.”
He called on Benue citizens to vote for Herman Hembe for Governor because he has a track record of development and investment in human capacity.
“Let us also vote for our own Peter Obi who is coming to change the narrative of consuming nations to productive nations. Let us say no to the people that meted hardship on us.
“Our economy has failed, security has collapsed and it is the APC and the PDP that brought us to this pitiable state.”
