Youth group trains 100 corps members on non-oil export

The Organization of Youths in International Trade and Commerce, OY-ITC, says it has trained more than 100 National Youth Service Corps members on skills to manufacture and export non-oil products.

The president of the organization, Chinedu Amadi, said this at a one-day workshop and exhibition for corpers, themed, “Wealth from non-oil Exports” on Thursday in Abuja.

The OY-ITC is designed to support young entrepreneurs and women in getting non-oil products ready for international trade.

Amadi noted that the essence of the training is to create awareness on the wealth potential that exists in the non-oil section through products they can create of the various sectors within the non-oil product.

According to him, the mission of the trade is to train NYSC members and graduates on bridging the unemployment to ensure the get sustain livelihood , economic empowerment and achieve their dreams.

He said, “why we are here is to showcase the products we’re gonna take to Houston, Texas USA in October 11th to 16th International Trade Show where we are showing made in Nigeria products to empower and enhance the livelihood of practitioners in the sector. Also bring about opportunities for networking amongst stakeholders, producers, the US government agencies and international bodies will be partaking in the trade show.”

A facilitator, Corporate Service Department on Raw Materials Sourcing, Development and Utilization, Dr Chuks Ngaha, advised that Nigeria should create policy that will galvanize interest towards identifying and producing products line that can create wealth and employment.

A previous beneficiary of the training, Mrs Uzoechi Chidi, who makes shea butter, coconut oil and hand knitted shoes, said being part of the organization has presented her with the opportunity to export her products and receive good cash in return.
