Police kill 10 gunmen in Anambra

10 gunmen have been killed by the Police in Anambra State with some dangerous weapons including bombs belonging to them confiscated.

This was made public Saturday by the state police command which said the criminals were killed in Achalla, Awka North Local Goverment Area of the state.

The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) of the command, Tochukwu Ikenga (DSP) revealed this.

Ikenga said that the operation was a counter offensive as the gunmem had earlier on July 15th ambushed a six man police team and a car tracker killing two policemen and the tracker in the process.

The PPRO noted that in the counter operation, operatives killed ten of the hoodlums while many others escaped with bullet injuries.

He said that three camps which served as operational base of the hoodlums were also destroyed.

“A human skull, one locally made rocket propeller grenade (RPG) launcher, RPG bombs, one single barrel long gun and empty chain of gun were recovered.

“Other items recoverd are one Toyota Sienna, one Mercedes Benz 4matic Jeep, two cylinders and huge quantities of hard drugs” Ikenga revealed.

Meanwhile, the Anambra State Commissoner of Police, Echeng Echeng (CP) has condoled with the families of the two officers and a civilian who met their untimely end in the hands of the hoodlums.

He said that efforts are in top gear to reclaim and dominate the public spaces occupied by the hoodlums in Anambra State.
