Veteran Nigerian singer, Olanrewaju Abdul-Ganiu Fasasi, popularly known as Sound Sultan, is dead.
He passed away earlier today at the age of 44.
In a message signed by Dr. Kayode Fasasi, the singer died after a brief battle with Angioimmunoblastic T-cell Lymphoma, cancer that affects the spleen, bone marrow, and immune system.
The message read, “It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of multitalented veteran singer, rapper, songwriter Olanrewaju Fasasi a.k.a Sound Sultan.
“He passed away at the age of 44 following a hard-fought battle with angioimmunoblastic t-cell lymphoma.
“He is survived by his wife, three children, and his siblings.
“We the family will appreciate the utmost privacy as we come to grips with this tragic loss.”
The singer is credited with a number of conscious songs, including BODMAS.
