The 551 Nigerian Air Force, NAF, Station Jos have played a novelty match against the Rhino Football Club of 3 Division Nigerian Army, just as the 563 NAF Hospital provided residents within Jos and environs with free medical out reach.The novelty football match and free medical interventions were aimed at commemorating the 58th Anniversary celebration and Reunion of the NAF.
Notable among the medical interventions carried out by the NAF to host communities in Jos, Plateau State include: checking of eyes, blood pressure and sugar level as well as deworming of children.
Speaking during the novelty match, the Commander 551 NAF Station, Air Commodore Wap Maigida who was represented by the Commander 563 NAF Hospital, Air Commodore Ogbodo congratulated the team for their sportsmanship. He further maintained that the football match is geared towards strengthing the on going spirit of jointness emplaced in military operations and effective synergy among the services which is in tandem with the Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal 0ladayo Amao’s vision “To enhance and sustain critical airpower capabilities required for joint force employment in pursuit of national security imperatives”.
Other dignitaries presence during the entertaining encounter were the Chief of Staff 3 Division, Commandants Air Force Military Schools and other senior military officers serving in Plateau State.
Meanwhile, the Novelty Match took place at the Air Force Military School football pitch in NAF Base Jos, witnessed by the General Officer Commanding 3 Division Nigerian Army Jos who was the Guest of Honour who was represented by the Ordinance Commander, Brigadier General Alamu.
The entertaining encounter kicked off with both sides initially missing several goal scoring opportunities until 551 NAF Station football team seized the opportunity to take the lead through penalty and eventually maintained the score to their advantage.
