Ayu sympathises with Jonathan over auto-crash, mourns death of police escorts

The National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Dr. Iyorchia Ayu, has sympathized with Ex-President Good luck Jonathan who survived a fatal auto-accident on yesterday.

The fatal auto-crash, which claimed the lives of two police escorts, occured on the Umaru Musa Yar’ adua Expressway as the ex-President’s convoy came into town from the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja.

The names of the two police escorts have been given as Inspectors Ibrahim Abazi and Yakubu Toma. The ex-president was, however, unhurt.

Reacting to the tragic development, Dr. Ayu says the news of the accident is shocking, but thanks God for graciously saving the life of the ex-President.

In a personally signed statement, Ayu regrets that the ex-President lost two of his security aides in the accident, and prays God Almighty to comfort their families and grant the deceased eternal rest.

He extends his heartfelt condolences to the Federal Government of Nigeria, the Police High Command and the bereaved families.

The statement, entitled “Auto-crash: Mr. President, please, accept my heart-felt sympathy and condolences,” reads in part: “I wish you a quick recovery from the traumatic experience so you can resume your work as a democracy ambassador, global statesman and international diplomat.

“I also wish a quick recovery to the two other officers who sustained injuries in the auto-accident and are on admission.”

“On behalf of myself, the National Working Committee of the PEOPLES DEMOCRATIC PARTY(NWC) and the whole PDP Family I say you are an asset to Nigeria and the world. May God bless you with many more years of productive service to Nigeria.”
