Suspended deputy commissioner of Police, Abba Kyari has pleaded not guilty to the case of drug running brought against him by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA.
In the same manner, four other policemen arrained with Kyari also pleaded not guilty to the charges against them.
However, two civilians who were among those charged with the policemen pleaded guilty.
Those who pleaded guilty are Chibunna Patrick Umeibe and Emeka Alphonsus Ezenwanne. They agreed to have imported 21.35kilogrammes of cocaine into Nigeria.
Umeibe and Ezenwanne, who are charged in counts five, six and seven of the eight-count charge, pleaded guilty when the charge was read to them.
Umeibe, while pleading guilty, also prayed the court to have mercy on him.
But DCP Abba Kyari and other defendants, ACP Sunday J. Ubua, ASP Bawa James, Inspector Simon Agirgba, Inspector John Nuhu pleaded not guilty in respect of counts one, two, three, four and eight.
