The wife of Ugochukwu Okpala has been kidnapped in Lokoja, Logo state on Friday night.
Okpala is a popular owner of a chain of shops under the banner of Seat of Wisdom Supermarket.
She was said to have been accosted by the gunmen shortly after closing shop right in front of business premises which the woman runs along the Gadumo-Ganaja road in Lokoja.
Kogi Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, William Aya, while confirming the incident, said the Command was informed that “just as Okpala closed for the day and was about entering her car, she was accosted, pushed into their own car and driven off to an unknown destination.”
He said that the kidnappers abandoned Okpala’s car and drove off in theirs.
According to him, the Commissioner of Police, CP, Edward Eboka has mobilised officers in conjunction with all other sister security agencies, including the local vigilantes to go after the kidnappers.
He said: “We got the information about the kidnap and the Commissioner of Police has activated all security architecture to ensure that the lady is freed without hurt while the culprits would be apprehended and brought to justice.”
