Three suspects in a 2019 case involving criminal conspiracy and culpable homicide have been taken into custody by the Jigawa State Police Command.

This was contained in a statement issued by the command’s spokesperson, SP Lawan Shiisu Adam, and made available to DAILY POST.

He said those arrested include Malam Adamu Aliyu, Malam Mukhtar Abdulmumin and Malam Nafiu Ibrahim from Hadejia, Auyo, and Miga Local Government Areas.

He explained, that the suspects were apprehended in Illela, Sokoto State, after an extensive investigation by detectives from the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Dutse.

Shiisu said the case dates back to July 2, 2019, when a 19-year-old victim, Ahmad Abdullahi of Fanisau Quarters, was reported missing by his brother, Tijjani Umar, at Hadejia ‘A’ Division.

According to police findings, “the suspects lured the deceased with a fraudulent promise of making spiritual money that would enable him to travel abroad for studies. They deceitfully collected the sum of N400,000 from him before luring him to a riverside in Hadejia, where they strangled him and threw his body into the water after he demanded a refund”.

“Following the crime, the suspects fled to the Niger Republic, where they remained until their recent arrest in Illela on February 8, 2025”

SP. Shiisu said the suspects were subsequently transferred to Jigawa State for prosecution.

The police have since charged the suspects to court.
