A man named Kelvin Izekor has been arrested by Edo State police on suspicion of killing his wife, Success Izekor. The event occurred on Saturday in Benin City’s Upper Mission Extension neighbourhood, according to a statement issued by the police and signed by Moses Yamu, the Command’s public relations officer.
He said the suspect was arrested in the process of being lynched by an irate mob.
He explained that when the “operatives of the Aduwawa Division of the Command arrived at the scene, they met the lifeless body of the woman lying in the pool of her own blood with a cut on her head.
“It took serious efforts by the police operatives to pacify the mob, rescue, and take the suspect into custody for investigation.”
He said the police swiftly rushed the victim to the hospital, where the specialists confirmed her dead.
The police said investigations into the death of the woman have commenced in earnest, promising that whoever is “found culpable would be dealt with according to the law”.
