Lookman finished in 14th position in the 2024 Ballon d’or, largely thanks to his hat-trick in the final of the UEFA Europa League against Bayer Leverkusen.
The 27-year-old is favourite to win the African Player of the Year.
The winger scored a first half brace in La Dea’s 3-0 win over Napoli last weekend.
Gasperini stated that the Nigerian has developed rapidly since his arrival at the club.
“He (Lookman) has had a fantastic evolution. Lookman already did well alongside Rasmus Hojlund, then had Gianluca Scamacca and De Ketelaere as partners before Retegui.
“At this moment, he is among the top players in Europe and that means on the world stage too,” the Italian told a press conference ahead of his side’s UEFA Champions League clash with Stuttgart.
“He is still in the running to win the African Player of the Year Award, but the most important thing is his evolution and consistency.”
