Zacheous Dare Michael, the chairman of the Caretaker Committee of Kabba Bunu Local Government Area, has reportedly been abducted by unidentified gunmen.

DAILY POST learnt that the incident happened on Friday evening along the Kabba-Okene expressway in Kogi State.

Michael is reportedly contesting for the chairmanship of the ruling All Progressive Congress, APC, in the local government ahead of the Kogi State council polls slated for October 19, 2024.

Sources told DAILY POST Michael attended a meeting in Lokoja, the Kogi State capital, before his abduction.

The kidnappers, who were reportedly heavily armed, shot sporadically at the vehicle of the Caretaker Committee chairman before capturing him and other members of his entourage, a security source in Kogi State confirmed to DAILY POST on Friday evening.

Responding to the development, a WhatsApp platform, Owe Political Platform, posted: “Confirmed report says that the CTC chairman and some of his aides, including Bank Andrew, have been kidnapped by unknown gunmen.

“We, the administrators of the Owe Political Platform, are appealing to all members to join in prayer for their safe release without harm. Anyone with credible information that could assist in their rescue is urged to contact the police May God show His face and touch the hearts of those responsible.”

All efforts to speak with the Police Public Relations Officer of the Kogi State Police Command, SP William Ovye Aya, proved abortive.

At the time of filing this report, calls and messages sent to his phone lines were not responded to.
