Taraba State Governor Agbu Kefas has once more given his approval to the employment of 573 more political aides.

The announcement, which was contained in a statement issued to journalists in the state in the early hours of Tuesday, was signed by the Secretary to the State Government, SGS, Barrister Gebon Timothy Kataps.

DAILY POST reports that with the exception of the commissioners, the state now has a total of 707 special aides.

Like the earlier 134 appointees who have not been assigned with responsibilities, the new appointees are as well expected to serve as Special Assistants, Senior Special Assistants, Special Advisers, Community Special Assistants, among others.

Though the appointment was said to have been in continuation of the governor’s efforts to enhance governance and service delivery to the people of the state, some concerned residents have continued to frown at the development.

Describing the governor’s action as uncalled for, a party chieftain, who spoke with our reporter, said the appointment was not going to attract any form of development to the state.

“With the current economic hardship, I don’t personally welcome the idea of engaging the services of such a large number of political aides,” said the party chieftain who craved anonymity.
