11 trapped, 9 rescued as building collapse in Abuja

At least 11 persons are still trapped under a rubble after a four-storey building collapsed on Monday evening at the Dape area of Life Camp.

The building, which was under construction at the collapse, is said to be a hotel owned by one of the top hotels in the territory.

Eyewitnesses say the hotel which had an underground facility had no fewer than 20 persons trapped.

Though the Director General of FCT Emergency Management Agency, FEMA, Dr. Abass Idris, is yet to confirm this figure, he however said nine persons have so far been rescued at 7:44pm, while rescue operation continues.

As at the time of filing this report, officials of the, FEMA, security personnel and other emergency responders have mobilized to the scene to rescue the trapped victims.
