…Inauguration postponed till Thursday
Inauguration of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP National Campaign Council for the November 6 Anambra State Governorship election slated for 12 noon Monday has been postponed till Thursday,September 9.
Reasons for the postponement of the All important event was the absence of the chairman of the campaign council and governor of Abia State, Victor Okezie Ikpeazu and other governors of the party.
They were said to be attending a summit on the ravaging insecurity problem in the country in far away Jos, Plateau State.
National Organising Secretary, Col. Austin Akobundu (rtd) who addressed the gathering after the opening prayer said “our govs are inadvertently absent. They are presently in Jos attending a national meeting on insecurity”.
According to Akobundu, the governors sent words through the Director General of the PDP Governors Forum, Hon. Cyril Maduabum that the event be shifted till Thursday when National Executive Committee, NEC meeting will be taking place.
The event slated for 12.00 noon could not take off until 1.45 pm after series of consultations following the arrival of the acting National Chairman, Elder Yemi Akinwonmi.
Before his arrival, few notable party stalwarts at the NEC hall venue of the event include the Director Anambra State PDP governorship campaign council , Sen. Uche Ekwunife, Senate Minority Leader, Enyinnaya Abaribe, former Anambra gov, Peter Obi, Sen Ben Obi, Alli Odefa ( Nat Vice Chairman South South), Amb Taofeek Arapaja ( Nat Vice Chairman South West), Amb Aminu Wali, Nat Org Sec, Austin Akobundu, Nat Secretary, Sen. Umaru Tsauri, Nat Publicity Secretaty, Kola Ologbondiyan, Nat Youth Leader, Sunday Ude Okoye and the governorship candidate, Valentine Ozigbo.
