Former lawmaker, Senator Dino Melaye, has won the Kogi state Peoples Democratic Party, PDP governorship primary election conducted in the state on Sunday.
The former senator who represented Kogi West Senatorial district also served as spokesperson of 2023 Presidential candidates of People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar.
Dino was declared the winner of the PDP gubernatorial primary by the returning Officer for the election after scoring 313 votes against Idoko Ilonah’s 124 votes.
Other are: Awoniyi Sunday: 77 votes; ; Musa Wada: 56 votes
A total of 27 aspirants had picked up Expression of Interest forms to contest in the primary elections.
Many notable personalities participated in the Kogi primary election including former deputy governor of the state Yomi Awoniyi, and former senator Attai Aidoko. Others who also contested include Kebiru Usman, Abdullahi Haruna, Zakaria Alfa, Musa Wada, Bolu Femi, and Idoko Idah.
