Eggonnews publisher retires as son takes over

The Management of Eggonnews Communications, publishers of the popular Eggonnews community newspaper, has announced a change in the editorial department of the organisation.

Effective from 1st April, 2023, the erstwhile Editor, Mr Matthew Kuju, having served as the founding Editor and Publisher since the inception of the newspaper 24 years ago, retires from active editorial work.

In his place, Mr Eric Kuju takes over as the Editor.

Mr Eric Kuju, a graduate of Zoology from the University of Jos and postgraduate student with the University of Agriculture, Makurdi, has been into journalism for over a decade and currently a postgraduate Diploma student with the International Institute of Journalism (IIJ) Lafia campus.

Mr Matthew Kuju, holder of B.A. Second Class Upper degree in Languages and Linguistics from the University of Jos, started his journalism career with the Plateau Publishing company (PPC), publishers of The Nigeria Standard newspapers in 1988 a General Correspondent and rose to be the founding Editor of The Nigeria Standard on Saturday.

Thereafter, he joined the likes of Nick Dazang and Labaran Maku to publish a Lagos-based magazine, The Meridian, which hit the newsstands in 1996. Mr Kuju was the Executive Editor.

It was while there in Lagos that he conceived the idea and started Eggonnews community newspaper in April, 1999.

With the retirement of Matthew Kuju and coming on board of Mr Eric Kuju, the Management of the newspaper promises greater services with more innovations to serve the reading public and the community.
