Tension in Imo community as gunmen kill three NSCDC operatives

Three personnel of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) were killed by unknown gunmen in Imo State on Monday.

Report said the attack happened at the Eke Isu Market in Obiangwu community, in the Ngor Okpala Local Government Area of the state, following which traders and residents in the community were thrown into a panic.

The NSCDC personnel were in a vehicle heading to a destination when the gunmen ambushed their vehicle and killed them.

According to sources, immediately after security agents including soldiers were alerted to the incident, they mobilised to the scene to forestall further attacks and track down the assailants responsible for the attacks in the community.

“Three operatives of the NSCDC were killed at the Eke Isu Market in Obiangwu community, in the Ngor Okpala LGA of Imo State.

“They were ambushed while in their vehicle. Their bodies have not been evacuated as we speak. Soldiers have taken over the community,” one of the sources was quoted to have said.
